The staff were lovely but they did appear to need more staff. Anything asked for (coffee.. Milk. Butter) took rather a long time to materialise. Although the room was spacious & clean it seemed drab & in need of updating. Fittings r old & tatty. Some wallpaper peeling. The window latches broken & roughly patched up. Could do with a refurb throughout.

Unfortunately it's not the best news I'm afraid. The Whitehall Hotel is portrayed has posh, elegant and upper class but inside the real story unfolds. The carpets are disgusting and the toilets need modernisation. My mum and dad had that bathroom suite in 1989. There was light bulbs out in the chandelier, the curtains were ripped, the sofas were shoddy and tired looking and my afternoon tea was abysmal. The cream isn't clotted cream, the proceco was loot warm and the tea wasn't hot. That's probably because it's been poured into very cold pottery which has then dramatically altered the temperature. You have to book 48 hours in advance and the place is empty. Supposedly it's that amount of time to make the cakes but these cakes were tiny and nothing special. I can bake better myself and it certainly wouldn't take me two days! It's not having the attention to detail that made the overall experience feel flat and whithered.

We recently stayed a couple of nights at the Hotel. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. Had few meals there too the food was excellent, good choice at breakfast time. Even though we had to ask for extra things in our room it was no problem at all.

A very enjoyable experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast delicious and offered not just the usual full English but something for all tastes. Will definitely visit again.

This place was not a good experience. Room needed a good dusting. Domestic quality fittings and shabby bathroom. Sour milk at breakfast on the first morning. Such a shame it could have been good with more attention but it is obviously run on a shoestring.
